Welcome! My name is Jolán.
About Me

Engineer, climate advocate, endurance athlete, and artist are all words I use to describe myself.
I developed robust, diverse skills in mechanical design, modeling, simulation, prototyping, and validation, as well as hands-on experiences with global and corporate sustainability as an undergraduate student in Duke University’s mechanical engineering program (2021). Filling a Product Design Engineer role at Apple and completing my Master of Engineering degree at UC Berkeley (2022) further challenged and inspired me to take on new skill sets in basic programming, data analytics, and foundations of machine learning. I am highly motivated to apply these computing tools to answer important questions at the intersection of climate and atmospheric sciences.
Outside of work, my time is spent in the mountains or on a bike – ideally both at once! Cycling is a substantial part of my life and has been since I began riding in 2014, with a highlight in 2016 when I placed 9th in the National Collegiate Track Cycling Championships women’s scratch race. I was a member of the Cal Triathlon team (2021-2022), and I will continue to feed my love for the outdoors through training as an endurance athlete in my home state of Colorado.

My love of alpine environments motivates my interest in climate, atmospheric science, and data. I am very excited to draw from both my athletic and academic interests as I continue to grow my academic and career experiences!
