Climbing Rope Bag

March 13, 2018

Rather than buying a rope-bag, I decided to design and create two of my own – one as a gift and one for myself.

The design was informed primarily by the shape of my coiled rope, which is generally a long and narrow bundle. The bag itself reflects this, and has room for two ropes, or one rope and extra climbing gear. It is designed with a large flap of synthetic material to act as a barrier between the rope and the ground while it is in use, and both the inner and outer fabrics are water-resistant.

The bag is a success! I use it every time I climb, and it has helped to keep my rope clean and dry during inclement weather and muddy conditions. It’s large capacity allows me to keep both the rope and my trad rack in the bag, and it still has clean lines and a smooth aesthetic even at full capacity.
